On behalf of the Government of Nusa Tenggara Barat, I welcome you to the Rinjani‑Lombok MIDAS Management Agency.

Rinjani‑Lombok is one of the very few landscapes in the world to hold two UNESCO designations at once — a Global Geopark and a Biosphere Reserve — recognition of a place where geology, biodiversity, and Sasak culture have shaped one another for centuries. That recognition carries responsibility. It asks us to protect what makes this landscape unique, while ensuring its communities share fully in the value it generates.

That is why we established a single Agency to govern both designations under one mandate, rather than leaving their management fragmented across separate offices. MIDAS exists to convene government, business, academia, communities, and media around one shared objective: improving the welfare of the Rinjani‑Lombok communities through inclusive and sustainable economic diversification and transformation.

I invite investors, development partners, and institutions who share this vision to engage with the Agency directly, and to help build Southeast Asia’s leading model for sustainable investment in an internationally designated landscape.

BAPPEDA’s role is to ensure that provincial planning is coherent, evidence-based, and delivered — and the Rinjani‑Lombok MIDAS Management Agency is a clear example of that principle in practice.

The Agency’s programmes are built to align directly with the RPJMD Provinsi NTB and the province’s longer-term development agenda, translating a landscape-level vision into budget lines, working groups, and measurable Year‑5 benchmarks that provincial planning can track and support. Coordinating through BAPPEDA keeps the Agency’s work integrated with the rest of NTB’s development priorities, rather than operating as a standalone initiative.
